Count Ymir is arguably among the easier bosses in the latest expansion, and here is a quick and efficient way to mow down this optional boss battle.
How to Defeat Count Ymir, Mother of Fingers
The Elden Ring DLC rivals the content featured in the base game but is much shorter, depending on how well or fast you move through this massive expansion. The expansion is stocked with side content and Count Ymir is one of them; however, he isn’t exactly the menace many thought he would be.

To start the fight, you must first complete most of Ymir’s side quest and defeat Metyr, Mother of Fingers. Once this boss is defeated, Count Ymir will reclaim the title of Mother of Fingers. There is a secret passage beneath the throne room and once you open it, you will be greeted by Swordhand of Night Jolan.
Tip
Swordhand of Night Jolan is quite slippery and agile. It is best to keep your distance and hit him with heavy attacks!
Once Swordhand of Night Jolan is down, a bit of dialogue from Count Ymir leads to the boss battle. Count Ymir can summon large fingers from the ground to engulf himself, which can harm players within range and summon smaller finger-like spiders to keep you at bay; however, Count Ymir is much easier than other bosses in the expansion.

Getting the right equipment is crucial to beat this boss. The Putrescence Cleaver can easily do the job paired with the Beast Champion Armor, Greaves of Night, Claw Talisman, Erdtree’s Favor, Two-Headed Turtle Talisman, Shard of Alexander, Flask of Crimson Tears, and Flask of Cerulean Tears.

It may be heavy and players will only have a small window to charge their attacks without getting hit by incoming projectiles called Glintstone Nails from Count Ymir or being disrupted by his smaller lackeys. This weapon can inflict massive damage and the health bar of Count Ymir will drop like crazy.
Additional Tips to Beat Count Ymir in the Elden Ring DLC
Count Ymir is not the hardest boss in the entire Shadow of the Erdtree expansion and he is quite laughable compared to the likes of the Golden Hippopotamus or Commander Gaius. Count Ymir’s deadly attacks only pop up when you are nearby and he is very much uncoordinated.

Once the fight starts, it is best to start swinging the Putrescence Cleaver immediately. Ymir is not a massive threat nor a powerful enemy; he is much softer. It is best to evade all incoming range attacks, especially when he summons large fingers from the ground. Time each attack and it will not take long for Ymir to be another fallen enemy.

Players can fight this enemy aggressively to wrap the fight to call it a day faster or dance with him to toy around with Count Ymir. Either way, it is worth noting that any decent build can take on this weaker optional boss fight.
The smaller finger and spider hybrids are there to distract you; however, there is no consequence to ignore them and focus solely on Count Ymir. We hope this guide to defeating one of the easiest bosses in the Elden Ring expansion will help you in your playthrough.
