A stretch of a major UK motorway was closed after a lorry crashed into a barrier, sparking huge traffic chaos near London Stansted Airport.
Queues built up on the M11 between Junctions 8 and 10 as a result, while pictures from traffic cameras showed traffic being brought to a standstill.
A post on the National Highways website read: "The M11 in Essex is closed northbound between J8 (Stansted) and J10 (Duxford). A lorry has left the carriageway, causing barrier damage."

Both lanes reopen while delays continue
Both lanes on the M11 northbound between Stansted Airport and Duxford have reopened.
A lorry has been removed from the stretch after it collided with a barrier, which has now also been repaired, National Highways says.
Delays of around 10 minutes remain for motorists on approach.

Lane 2 on the M11 northbound between J8 and J10 has reopened, National Highways says.
Lane 1 remains closed for barrier repairs after a lorry crashed into it this morning. Delays of up to 15 minutes are still expected on approach.

Traffic maps show congestion continuing to build on the major motorway on either side of a closure between J8 and J10.

Motorists directed to diversion route
Drivers have been told to follow a diversion route to avoid the closure of the M11 between J9 and J10.
Cars are being directed onto the A120 and A10 before returning to the M11.

'Severe' delays not expected to clear for hours
Traffic alerts say that the "severe" congestion on the M11 is not expected to clear until around 3pm.
National Highways' latest traffic information says the lorry crash happened on the motorway's northbound entry slip at Junction 8A.

Three miles of traffic on major motorway
Drivers are facing three-mile-long queues and delays of around 20 minutes after a lorry crashed into the barrier of the M11, National Highways has said.
The lorry has now been removed from the carriagway, with barrier repair still underway.

M11 shut after lorry crash
The M11 has been closed between Junction 8 near Stanstead airport and Junction 10 near Duxford in Cambridgeshire.
A lorry left the carriageway and caused damage to the barrier, National Highways said.
Vehicle recovery and barrier repair are underway at the scene.
