I have to say - The safety features on TikTok are getting better and better. If you have not used Tiktok before and mainly listened to all the negative press it usually gets you might have fallen into the idea that they aren't doing "enough". On the contrary, I would argue they are - for example, here they are placing a safety where under 15 cannot engage in a group chat, and teens cannot be added to a group chat unless they know at least 1 person. This should minimize the amount of online bullying, as you cannot "just be added" to a random group. Other safety measures that aren't praised enough are:- if any age under 18 is mentioned in a Live, the Live will be shut down and investigated. Everyone has to then confirm their age with ID to be able to interact with the app. - If someone is driving, Smoking or performing anything risky on a video or on Live, a warning will pop up saying, "Do not imitate" or "Activities that are taking place could be risky and/or hurt your health". (paraphrasing the text as I do not know it by heart)- Taking down racist, discriminatory or bullying comments immediately, but also allowing users to contest it if they got it wrong. (I have had to contest a few things and have always come back pleasantly surprised)These are a few of the safety features I appreciate as a user.
